While social media has cut into the instant messaging space, apps like Whatsapp and BBM continue to battle it out for a presence on our mobile devices. TenCent, with WeChat, has carved out a significant space for itself in the Asian markets as a social messaging service. Launched in Africa, with its primary base in South Africa (Naspers owns a stake in Tencent), a few months back, WeChat has been aggressively establishing itself in SA and across the continent , firstly with its ad with Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi, and with the WeChat Guy. The Art of Life Eps 5
Another episode of the Art of Life with Steve Slotow and myself is in the bag and live. My piloting inadequacies were front and centre with this episode and we also chatted about the Xbox One (no, we don't have one) and the iGrill. Please go over to our YouTube channel and subscribe (if we don't bore you to death) and share. Also, I've said it before, but if you have interesting products or stuff, share them. The Art of Life (Episode 1)
Steve Slotow is someone who I've been bumping into at, primarily, tech launches over the last two years. We'd chat briefly about this and that and get back to our lives. We both write and engage with content, particularly technology and digital related, from a more inclusive lifestyle perspective, rather than the solely geeky, nitty-gritty spec driven one - don't doubt we do like specs and features as well. So, when he approached me about starting a web series engaging with all of these spaces and more, I jumped at the opportunity. We've decided to call it The Art of Life. A director,...
Camera Review on Mgongo
For those who visit here regularly, you'll know that I like playing with gadgets and stuff. When I first started evolutionary, I used to do a feature called "the layman's thoughts" because I am, in no way, an expert. Everything I interact with, I try to look at it from the perspective of use. I was recently interviewed on the Mgongo Show (on SA's ETV) about the Sony NEX F-3. The less said about how I feel about my video interviews the better but I have been told that it would be useful to share them here, so I will. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEXZ5HxcRrw&feature=youtu.be
@Intel_Africa
Intel is in a fascinating position as it continues to entrench itself in the world of technology beyond simply being the engine to devices like laptops, desktops and other similar hardware. Traditionally, we were all very used to seeing the Intel Inside sticker but, with the evolution of technology, the computing and digital realm have become more about how we, as ordinary consumers, use technology as opposed to simply the specs. And the reality is that, for most of us, the capability of, for example, a chip, doesn't make any sense to us. To realign itself with the way we interact with...
Intel celebrates #OneWebDay
This is a "Sponsored Post" Since 2006, the OneWebDay is held every September 22 to celebrate the internet and also to promote the importance of open networking principles. The suggested theme for this year’s events was to highlight local content as a way of making the Internet available for our communities. Earlier in the year a joint report made available from the Internet Society, UNESCO, and the OECD revealed just how important local content is to building a connected society. Mr Markus Kummer from the Internet Society stated, “This study confirms the strong relationship between local...
