My work over the last decade has been primarily in media, consulting around editorial/content strategy and speaking. Below is a cross-section of some of the projects I have been involved in.
Media
Destiny Man
Editor of the now defunct men’s business and lifestyle magazine Destiny Man from 2010 – 2014. In the time I was there, the magazine went from alternative monthly to monthly with a host of prominent South African and international men on the cover. In addition to editing the magazine and writing a host of stories and profiles, I hosted the majority of the magazines events.
Kaya FM
From October 2016 to August 2019, I hosted Life With Kojo Baffoe on Kaya FM, a talk show covered the gambit of my interests from watchmaking, fatherhood, renewable energies, music, philanthropy and literature to art, design, technology, poetry entrepreneurship, publishing and everything in between. It was a 1-hour show on a Thursday evening.
Afropolitan
Editor of lifestyle magazine Afropolitan from July 2017 to June 2018. Developed editorial plans for each issue, edited articles and wrote a cross-section of articles.
Consulting
I was part of the team that developed the editorial strategy and plan for Absa’s internal magazine Habari. On implementation, I served as editor, commissioning writers from across the continent (in Absa markets), sub-editing and writing.
Speaking
I have facilitated, hosted and been programme director for various events, conferences, workshops, and seminars. I speak on a variety of topics, often customised for specific occasions, particularly around identity, content and media, lifestyle, marketing and fatherhood.
Hello Ambassador
In 2014, I spoke at the Hello Ambassador conference on understanding content in an evolving digital world.
My World of Tomorrow
I spoke at My World of Tomorrow in 2015 on content and storytelling.
Boston Media House
I gave the graduation speech at Boston Media House in 2018 titled Don’t Let Your Life Happen by Accident.
