Nokia World 2010 kicked off this morning in London with attendees from across the world including journalists, bloggers, distributors, suppliers, etc all anticipating insight into Nokia’s global strategy over the next year. The day kicked off with a welcome from Niklas Savander, Executive Vice President, Markets who went straight to some of the things that are being said about Nokia and the challenges to its market share over the last couple of years.
According to Mr Savander, 260,000 Nokia smartphones are bought every day and, in the last quarter, more people bought Nokia phones than Apple and Android combined. Nokia sees the market as being diverse and, therefore, one device will not satisfy the world, and so their devices cater to this diversity. Connecting People “is more than just a feel good tagline. Nokia is arguably the most global company in the world and today (Nokia World) is about saying ‘Nokia Is Back’.”
And to emphasis this, Executive Vice President, Mobile Solutions, Anssi Vanjoki introduced the future in Nokia devices. He did also suggest that, before one shoots down the devices, one take them for a test drive in the same way that one would take a car for a test drive before deciding whether it fulfils its promise or not.
