Win A Windhoek Original Draught Hamper

Competition in the beer segment has always been tough but there seems to be an increased intensity to it, particularly over the last year or so. And, for those of you who interact with my posts regularly, although they often aren’t regular, you’ll know that what interests me more than is generally the story and ecosystem around a brand.

To be honest, I wasn’t much of a beer consumer until I spent some time in Germany, in the early ’90s. Windhoek Draught, which is made with the German Reinheitsgebot brewing tradition – also known as the German Beer Purity Law or Bavarian Purity Law (source: Wikipedia), has entrenched itself in the hearts of beer drinkers over the years.

It is now being relaunched with “premium and stylish new packaging” which speaks to its heritage, in terms of brand colours – Gold and Black – while also being modern, simple and stripped down. It comes in a 440ml bottle with “pressure-sensitive labels” and in a 660ml sharing pack with “metalised paper labels”. You can also get a 440ml can pack.

To commemorate the occasion, Windhoek have initiated the #PureBeerOClock Facebook competition where you can get a new-look Original Draught hamper, which includes a t-shirt and a 6-pack in a wooden Mancraft crate, delivered to your doorstep on a Friday, just in time to set the stage for your weekend.

They’ve also shared the opportunity with visitors of my spot so, if you would like to win the hamper, answer the following question:

What is the name of the brewing tradition that Windhoek use to ensure they are “100% Pure”?

Answer in the comments section below, on Twitter @KojoBaffoe or on Facebook @Kojobaffoe using the #PureBeerOClock hashtag.

Entries are open and will close on Wednesday November 26th at 11am South Africa time. The competition is restricted to South African residents. The winner will receive their hamper on Friday, December 5th, 2014.
