Established in 1874 in Scotland as a knitwear company producing high quality underwear by William Lyle and Walter Scott, Lyle & Scott has evolved over the last 140 years to become a full fashion brand for men and women. In this time, it has collaborated with luxury fashion brands like Chanel, Michael Kors and Yves Saint Laurent as well as expanding into golf wear, which further elevated the brand. It was launched in South Africa by Skye Distribution in winter 2012 and is available in Stuttafords stores in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Tshwane and Durban.
To celebrate 140 years, Lyle & Scott in South Africa has taken a novel approach to drive awareness around the brand with the 140 Series. 140 artists were commissioned to create 140 original pieces, each representing a year of the 140 years. You can bid for one or more of these artworks in a live auction on the Lyle & Scott site HERE which ends on October 6th, 2014.
On October 9th, there will be an exhibition of the pieces at Gallery MOMO in Johannesburg. The artists will receive the full profit from their artwork and, for the top three highest bids, the artists will receive an additional R5000, R3000 and R2000.
